Velarium
An independent R&D project exploring next-generation execution infrastructure for sovereign systems.
Behind the tech
Velarium is influenced by Dmitry’s background building systems where performance is a first-class property.
Over nearly two decades, he has worked across domains, from virtual machines and low-level systems to cloud-based solutions architecture. That range matters: in complex systems, local decisions become global outcomes. Foundations become constraints. Scheduling becomes throughput. Contention becomes user experience.
That perspective shapes how Velarium approaches blockchain systems. Execution is not treated as a black box. It is something to study, measure, and refine with care.
Velarium’s work is grounded in a simple objective:
Reduce the gap between how blockchain execution performs today and what modern hardware is capable of supporting.
People
Dmitriy Sorkin
Leads technical direction and architecture at Velarium.
Systems engineer with nearly two decades building scalable systems across the stack — from low-level runtimes to cloud architecture and high-performance execution. Focused on precision, depth, and raising the standard for blockchain execution.
George Cumberlidge
Leads strategy and operations at Velarium.
Previously scaled engineering organisations within the Ethereum ecosystem, working closely with protocol and research leadership. Focused on alignment, relationships, and translating deep technical work into execution.
Project status
Velarium is currently in pre-seed stage, focused on architecture validation and proof-of-concept development. We're working with a small number of early design partners.
We're not formally hiring yet, but if you're deep into low-latency systems, compilers, or parallel runtimes and this resonates, feel free to reach out.
